Great picture Rick
Thanks for sharing...
She was built by Hugo Peters, Wewelsfleth in Germany. Don´t know if the Yard still exists, but I can see in Google Map that there is still an active shipyard in this Little town..... and Google also Shows a Little shipyard that Looks closed and totally empty, but they left the slipway behind.... Try to visit the place on Google, Looks like this Little town is built only to Support the workers on the two?? Yards by the river... Never mind.... the ship is beautiful.... Rgds Kent |

During the night 30th/31st May the coaster LINDHOLM, GT 370, did collide with a waterway buoy near Scharhörn, while on voyage for Rendsburg. After entering the disabled vessel, the River Police not only noticed that the whole crew was drunk, but that nobody of the 7 member crew possessed a nautical certificate. Only the owner did possess a license to operate sportboats. The 50 years old ship did show incorrect flags as well as lights and the Traffic- Control-Center of Cuxhaven noticed too the unsecure behaviour of the ship in their heavily traveled Traffic Separation Area. Assisted by pilots it was intended to guide the 52 meters in length cargo vessel to Cuxhaven, but the ship developed a heavy list to port, due to water ingress in her hold. The lifeboat HERMANN HELMS was called and was able to safe her from sinking with the help of her bilge pump. After arriving at the Lübbertkai at Cuxhaven, 2 additional bilge pumps were provided by the Firebrigade, which enabled the final security of the LINDHOLM. The owner, a shipbuilder of Rendsburg, had bought the LINDHOLM only 2 days ago and intended to convert her for a voyage to the Caribbean. ************************************************** **** A few days later the "Lindholm" arrived in Wischhafen for repairs(see photos in next posting) July 2003 MOBY DICK San Lorenzo, Hnd.(HQWL8) Apr.2005 MOBBY DICK San Lorenzo, Hnd. 27-11-2005 25 nautical miles off Tinos Island on passage from Odessa to Beirut, she sent out distress message saying that her hold was flooded.
