Can anyone help me with this British coaster passing the World's End at Tilbury? Would rather hear suggestions than venture my own thoughts. Thanks for your time. Sorry about quality of photograph.

Hi Leslie,At first I thought it might be the Marchioness or one of the Camroux vessels-but not with that distinctive derrick aft.It does not fit any profile of smaller Everards or Crescent vessels-note she's flying a 'bob' forward which was typical of their smaller craft.
Thought about the smaller vessels of Metcalf,but the profile does not fit.However,there is one of Lapthorns that had that derrick aft- the HOOFINCH ex SPRINGFINCH.Built in 1964 By Drypool Hull as Springfinch,renamed Hoofinch in 1968,renamed Coastal Runner in 1988.

Thanks Rick - I can see your line of logic here! I think she is a wee bit smaller and along the lines of GLAS ISLAND or PURBECK type of ship. She has a single name and looks more a 30s/40s vintage like an ex Thomas Watson LADY type with the two lifebelts under the wheelhouse?

Looking more like the PURBECK at the moment - assume she was gearless under ownership of A.J. Brush of Maldon being in the aggregates trade. Certainly has the lines of a Pollock of Faversham ship. Thanks for research - will assume it to be PURBECK unless others have different views in the next week!

Another Pollock built vessel-also owned by Brush of Maldon,MAUREEN BRUSH
