Hi all, what do you think about a section for Coastal Shipping Companies, past and present, like Arklow Shipping, Otto A. Müller, Wilson Shipping etc ??

Default Coastal Shipping Companies??

Hi Malc, thank you very much for your reply. We had this section on Coasters-remembered before the "big crash", if I remember correctly...
Would be good, if not only the ships can be viewed, but the company history or personal experience as well, concerning companies and their ships......

If ships have been posted already, they could be copied accordingly, leaving the old postings intact, could be wise, as some replies are showing them under their new name(s).... and everything will be shown in their proper places

What do you think?? This question isn`t meant only for Malc

Default Hi Dierk

Good idea you´ve suggested my friend....
There are going to be plenty of danish coaster-companies that I would like to see in this section...
Of course, as you know, the most obvious one for me will be the "Bres-Line" or Rederiet Nielsen & Bresling in, now, Faaborg on Fyn in Dk, will be my very first Suggestion... I think, as I remember it, I had started the work on the late CR before her second "breakdown" so I hope I´ve saved some of the work from back then...
Regards from Kent

Hi Dierk - good idea, Kent's right there are lots of Danish companies as well, Juhl&Erhorn, Mortensen&Lange, Knud I Larsen,H C Grube, Baltimar, Trigon, although they all used to trade world-wide as well even with their 'Ringkobing types'(640dwcc-40000' - 2 x 5t w/d's) but they were designed for that trade as well, I'll think of some more when the brain finally gets on to boost Gareth

Default Coastal Shipping Companies??

Good afternoon Gareth, thank you very much for your reply....

we`ve created the section "Coastal Shipping Companies" in the meantime, latest addition in the "Coasters" section, but only a few got their own "berth" in this section, while others are still in the "Other Companies".....
see also http://www.coasters-remembered.net/s...ead.php?t=3777

It was intended as a test, to show you how it would be

If I understood correctly, you like this to remain and not deleted again

But like to know now, if it is better to create a section for the companies of each country of or leave it like it is. As you pointed out, there are a lot of danish companies as well as from other countries. Would maybe a bit difficult to find all of them again, if they`re all together..... afterwards

Thanks in advance
Tschüss and all best
Dierk

Default Coastal Shipping Companies??

Hi all,
we would like your opinion
We got now quite a few shipping companies in this section. But as the showing of the threads is in chronical order, or by clicking on the icon "Thread" on the left side of the toolbar, in alphabetical order, it is now a "mixture" of shipping companies of diverse countries. We can divide it according to the nationality or parts of Europe, like Scandianvian, United Kingdom- and Ireland companies etc..

Thank you very much in advance
Dierk

Default Coastal Shipping Companies

Hi all,
we got a lot of Coastal Shipping Companies in the new section, but most are from Britain, Denmark and Germany

Am wondering if YOU like to see too companies from the Netherlands, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway or other countries, which are "under represented"

Sometimes wondering too, if it was a good idea, causing a lot of work in order to enable everybody to see the ships of one company, as well as their histories, stories and shiplist all together in one place....?

Any comments or suggestions are more than appreciated

Thank you very much in advance

Hi Dierk,Personally,I suggest the following importent shipowners fleets are to be included in the list/s,-for the time being:-

U.K.:
JAMES FISHER,Barrow (ships names ended with ----FISHER,ie LEVEN FISHER etc.)
...............
HOLLAND:
CAREBEKA,Groningen & Rotterdam (ships names started with CAREBEKA,ie CAREBEKA 1 etc.)

SPLIETHOFF,Amsterdam (ships names ended with---GRACHT ie KEIZERGRACHT, or ----BEEK,ie SAMBEEK.)

WIJNNE & BARENDS,Delfzijl (ships named after girls,ie CLARISSA,CLAUDIA etc.)-ships recently added a LADY suffix.
.............................
NORWAY:
FRED OLSEN,Oslo,(many ships names started with the letter B,ie BRUSE ,BURE, etc)
.....................

* Many Dutch and German owners managed additional ships on behalf of smaller concerns or 'captain owners',therefore in their case the naming of the vessels may be different to those stated (it's a minefield !!) as indeed will be the colours of the hull and funnel .

Cheers,Rick
